“The Last Song”
Movie
A. Exposition
In this part, the movie
tells about introduction of the story. All about the characters and setting or
scene will be introduced in this part (Freytag, G nd). In this movie, exposition
begins when a little family came to the beach in Georgia. They come from
Columbia. It seems like a reunion between a wife and a husband which is being
separated by divorce. They are Ronnie as
the elder girl, Jonah as Ronnie’s younger brother, Stiff Ronnie’s father, and
will as Ronnie’s boyfriend in this story. I chose this part as an exposition,
because all of the introductions begin here, at the beach in Georgia.
B. Raising
Action
In this part, the movie
firstly introduced or gave the beginning of the interesting point of the story.
Of course, there will be an introduction to the problem. In this story, the
rising action occurred when the first time Ronnie met her father. She showed a
big hatefulness to him because of leaving her when she was a child. I chose
this part as the rising action, because there were many problems that will be
occurred, and as the beginning of the problem, it is shown a bad relationship
between father and his daughter.
C. Climax
In this part, the movie
shows a very high tension of problem. This is such a most exciting moment of
the story. In this story, climax happened when they were at the beach to see
the turtles which had just hatched. Suddenly Ronnie’s father could not hold to
stand and finally felt down. Ronnie finally knew that her father had a killer
disease that will definitely kill her father. There were many problems that
occurred in the story, however, I chose this part as the climax of the problem
because Ronnie and her brother did not know what to do. They loved their father
very much, and they did not want if their father would leave them. In another
side, Ronnie still had another problem with her boyfriend, Will.
D. Falling
Action
In this part, the movie
would tell about the results of climax, or telling what happened after all of
the problems were occurred. By this part, the audience will know that the story
will be ended soon. In this story, falling action happened after Ronnie’s
father was be able to go home from the hospital, suddenly they felt very happy
because they could be together in a family. I chose this part as a falling
action because this event happened after the climax occurred.
E. Resolution
In this part, the main character
solves the problem or conflict, or in another way, someone or something will
solve the problem for the main character. In this story, the resolution began
after Ronnie’s father’s death. Actually, she missed her father very much nor
she was very lonely. Then suddenly her boyfriend came to say that he canceled
his education in Vanderbilt and he would move to Columbia, Ronnie’s place.
One
thing that can be concluded from this story is this story tells us about the
broken home children. There would always be hatefulness from the children that
were left by their parents. Notwithstanding, from the bottom of the children’s
heart must be a deepest love to their parents. And this love would be appeared
when something that we love has gone.
